Moomin mug Simple Joy is launching as a Japan exclusive mug on April 22nd 2026. The mug’s illustration is almost the same as on the previously released Moominvalley Park Japan 2026 mug. However, the color palette of the illustration has been modified. For example, the orange-toned background of the original version has been changed to turquoise. In addition, the Simple Joy mug features the standard Moomin Arabia bottom stamp, whereas the Moominvalley Park version has a special theme park stamp on the base. The Simple Joy mug does not come with a gift box. The mug has a capacity of 0.3 liters.
The illustration on the Simple Joy mug has been inspired by four different Moomin comic stories. The scene in the foreground, showing Moomintroll and Snufkin fishing, is taken from the comic Moomin and the Golden Tail (1958), in which Moomintroll’s tail turns golden and attracts widespread attention and curiosity in Moominvalley. The shared fishing moment with Snufkin, however, offers a peaceful interlude far away from the bustle. The three other comic stories that influenced the illustration are Moomin builds a House (1955), Moomin Begins a New Life (1956), and Moomin Falls in Love (1956).
Moomin mug Simple Joy depicts the Moomins in joyful everyday tasks and moments. The illustration showcases different characters from the Moominvalley enjoying their favourite tasks that brings them happiness in everyday life. In addition to Moomintroll and Snufkin fishing, you can see Moominmamma watering flowers and Moominpappa hanging a hammock on a tree.
