Moomin plate Relaxing is the summer season plate from 2020. The artwork of the plate is based on Tove Jansson’s comic book Moominvalley Turns Jungle published in 1956. It’s a warm summer day and the Moomin family is sleeping in the garden. Moominmamma, who loves sleeping outside, is glad that this time the whole family is with her. Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden are wrapped under a blanket, and Moominpappa is in his hammock. As the sun is going down none of them are worried about tomorrow.
Tove Jansson’s lifework and the Moomin stories are hard to imagine without the presence of the sea. Nowadays the Baltic Sea is one of the most polluted seas in the world. Moomin Characters, together with the John Nurminen foundation, have raised awareness on this issue with the #OURSEA campaign. The campaign is used to spread information on different ways to help Baltic Sea. The aim is to raise one million euros to help clean and protect the Baltic Sea and its unique cultural heritage.
On each same series Relaxing Moomin mug sold one euro is donated to the John Nurminen foundation.
