Moomin cup and saucer Haru are a part of the very first full dinnerware collection by Moomin Arabia. The volume of the cup is 0.3l and the width of the plate is approx. 12 cm. The name of the collection, Haru, comes from the island of Klovharun, where Tove Jansson had a summer cottage together with her partner Tuulikki Pietilä. The collection is designed by Naoto Niidome and Nathalie Lautenbacher, combining Finnish and Japanese influences. Haru, in Japanese, means spring.
The color scheme of the Haru collection is very classic, combining ink-blue illustrations with a white background. The illustrations are based on Tove Jansson’s wreath motifs. Jansson drew many different wreaths showcasing the different characters of Moominvalley during her career. They were often used for book covers as well as in letters Tove wrote to her fans. The design of the Haru collection on the other hand was inspired by the rounded edges of stones and rocks shaped by the sea.
The Haru collection consists of tableware and household items.
