Moomin mini plate Moominvalley Park Japan is a set of two mini plates and it’s sold only in Japan. The illustration on the mini plates is based on two previously released Moomin mugs made for the Moominvalley theme park in Hanno, Japan. The first mug was released in 2019 and the second in 2023. The diameter of the mini plate is 10.5 cm.
The illustrations on the mini plates are based on Tove Jansson’s book Tales from Moominvalley originally published in 1962. The book has nine different short stories in total. The story used in this illustration is The Hemulen Who Loved Silence. In the story Hemulen works in an amusement park as a ticket puncher. Heavy rain dismantles the whole amusement park and Hemulen moves to live alone in his grandmothers’ old garden. Eventually children gather all the parts back together and build the amusement park back together inside the garden.
