Moomin mug Beams Japan x Moomin Arabia is part of a collaboration collection released in 2025 between Moomin Arabia and the Japanese lifestyle and fashion brand Beams Japan. The mug is based on Arabia’s Teema model and has a capacity of 0.3 liters. Each mug is hand-painted, making every piece a unique individual. This is the second hand-painted Moomin mug ever released after the Home mug, launched earlier in 2025.
The illustration on the Beams Japan mug draws inspiration from the very first Arabia Moomin mugs from the 1950’s. The Moomintroll on the front resembles the 1950’s Moomintroll mug, while the Snorkmaiden on the reverse side is influenced by the 1950’s Snorkmaiden mug. The illustrations have been slightly modified and adapted to fit the Teema mug design. For example, the Moomintroll on the front is now seen sitting on a pink cloud that has emerged from the Hobgoblin’s hat. The bottom of the mug features the initials of the artist who painted it, along with the text “for BEAMS Japan.” The mug is sold in a gift box decorated in Beams Japan’s signature orange color.
The Beams Japan x Moomin Arabia mug was originally available only through an online lottery held on Beams’ website from August 28th to September 5th, 2025. In addition, purchase rights were raffled for two Beams store locations. These rights had to be redeemed on September 20th and 21st, 2025. After that, a limited batch of mugs was made available on September 22nd via Beams’ online store and two physical shops. Despite a purchase limit of only one mug per customer, the mugs quickly sold out.
Since each mug is hand-painted, there may be individual variations in the illustrations and colors. The mug is microwave and dishwasher safe, though hand-washing is recommended for long-term use. In addition to the mug, the Beams Japan x Moomin Arabia collection includes a Moominmamma figurine and various textiles.
