Moomin mug Boss Lady is a part of a new Moomin mug series released by Moomin Arabia in 2026. The Rebel Club series takes Moomin mugs in a more eccentric and humorous direction. The mugs in the Rebel Club series have a capacity of 0.4 liters.
The bold illustrations of the Rebel Club collection are based on Tove Jansson’s Moomin comics from the 1950’s, which were primarily intended for an adult audience. The first of these comics was published in the British newspaper Evening News in 1954. Tove’s brother, Lars Jansson, joined in creating the comics in 1957. Tove stopped drawing them in 1960, but Lars continued working on the Moomin comics until 1975.
The illustration on the Boss Lady mug is based on Tove Jansson’s comic The Conscientious Moomins (1958). In the story, a member of the League of Conscience and Duty arrives in Moominvalley to promote a more modern way of life, one that includes working, fulfilling responsibilities, and earning one’s own income. Inspired by this, Snorkmaiden decides to try a more ambitious lifestyle by becoming a secretary. In reality, however, she is searching for a workplace romance, and resigns when she realizes that such an opportunity is not going to come her way.
