The Moomin mug Love blue is a new version of the pink Love mug that is the only mug launched in the 90’s that still remains in production to this day. Even though the pink Love mug has been available for decades, longer than any other Moomin mug, it is still one of the best selling mugs.
The blue Love mug was initially launched only in Japan on the 1st of March 2024 together with other new products to the Love collection. These other new products are mini mugs, small plates and various home textiles. The volume of Moomin mug Love blue is 0,3 liters. Moomin Arabia has said that since the original pink version of the mug is the most popular Moomin mug of all times, they wanted to make a light blue version of the Love mug in Japan. Some of the new items in the Love collection was announced to be later sold through other Moomin Arabia sales channels.
On the 30th of October 2024 Moomin Arabia launched the blue Love mug internationally as a part of the 80th anniversary of Moomin. However, these new mugs are different from the previous editions sold only in Japan. The new mugs have the Moomin 80 special stamp on the bottom as well as they are being sold without a gift box. The 80th anniversary version is available until the end of 2025. The new collection includes the blue versions of the mini mug and the mini plate as well. The pink versions of the mini mug and mini plate are still being sold only in Japan.
The illustration on the Love blue Moomin mug showcases the relationship between Snorkmaiden and Moomintroll. Their time together might be a bit rocky from time to time, but they always seem to work things out in the end. This mug has one of the most iconic Moomin designs, where Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden hug each other. The design was taken from the Moomin and The Martians comic strip from 1957.
