Moomin plate Hemulen yellow replaced the previous Hemulen Moomin plate that was discontinued in 2006. Hemulen was without his own character Moomin plate for 17 years! The new Hemulen yellow plate is only the second plate in the Moomin by Arabia Classics Collection that features Hemulen as the main character.
The illustration on the Moomin plate Hemulen yellow is based on Tove Jansson’s novel Finn Family Moomintroll from 1948. The deliciously colored illustration shows Hemulen accumulating his plant collection. In this story the Moomins are travelling to the Hattifatteners’ island. Blinded by the plant potential of this remote island, Hemulen is quickly surrounded by Hattifatteners and Snufkin needs to rescue him.
Did you know that Hemulen was not always interested in plants? The Finn Family Moomintroll story tells us that Hemulen becomes melancholic once he completes his original collection of stamps and has nothing to collect anymore. Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden are suggesting new things to collect, but nothing seems to interest Hemulen. Finally Hemulen gets excited about plants and starts his journey towards collecting the world’s finest herbarium.
The Hemulen yellow set includes a mug, a bowl and a plate.
