The Tove’s Jubileum (with glasses) Moomin Mug was launched in 2014 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tove Jansson’s birthday, who is the creator of the Moomin stories. The illustration was mainly based on Tove Jansson’s book The Dangerous Journey. In the story Susanna lost her glasses at the Moomins’ garden party, but ends up finding new ones, which make Moominmamma look different through them. So it does make sense that on this special mug’s even more special version, an additional small detail can be found – a drawing of the glasses hanging inside the mug. This version of the mug is significantly rarer than the regular The Tove’s Jubileum Moomin Mug, since only every sixth (16,67%) of the mugs had glasses drawn on them.
The mug’s popularity was so enormous that finding The Tove’s Glasses Moomin Mug became the top priority for the collectors. Situation got so bad that people were even grabbing these mugs from other shoppers’ hands! The most certain way to get one of these mugs was to order a six pack from the online store, which were guaranteed to have one of the Glasses Mugs in them. This mug has a special place in our company’s history as well, since we started our business in 2014 as well. In the beginning collectors were struggling to find us, but in the Summer of 2014 we gave away two of The Tove’s Jubileum Moomin Mugs with Glasses on our facebook page, which gave us a lot of visibility among the Moomin mug collectors.
